WOMEN'S WORLD CUP

1999 was the first year the FIFA Women’s World Cup soccer event would be held in the United States. Needless to say, the branding needed to generate passion, enthusiasm, and energy. The core identity and system of iconography and graphics we designed provided an almost limitless flexibility, while maintaining a consistent look and feel. From press kits to videos, venue announcements to ticket sales, the event’s bold expression could be spotted across a proud nation of soccer fans.

Corporate sponsorship packages and ticket sales exceeded expectations and awareness of women’s soccer through the 1999 Women’s World Cup was at its highest level ever. Young and old alike attended the games and adopted the brand identity into popular culture. Even Barbie® got into the act.
